Roam Highlighter Tutorial

Hi! Just a quick note that I'm developing a new and improved version of this highlighter called Markway.

With a focus on personal knowledge management workflows and integration to note-taking tools (Roam Research, Obsidian, Notion etc.) And other exciting things!

Getting started

Great! You successfully installed Roam Highlighter. Watch the tutorial video or follow the steps below to start highlighting.

1

Open the extension

You can open the extension by clicking on the icon in the top right, or by setting yourself a shortcut. The extension is active, when you see the Roam Highlighter Widget in the bottom right.

Tip: Follow this guide for a step-by-step explanation on how to set an extension shortcut.
2

Start highlighting

When the extension is open, you immediately highlight text by selecting it with your cursor. Text that is highlighted will have a yellow background color. Test it out on this page!

Tip: You don't need to be precise with your selection. The extension automatically extends the selection to include full words.
3

Copy to Roam Research

In the highlight widget on the bottom right, you can always see the number of highlights and change the bookmark title. When you are finished, click on the button to copy all the highlights to your clipboard.

Tip: In the settings, you can adjust the format in which the highlights are copied to your clipboard. Add placeholders to automatically include metadata from the website.

That's it! I think from here you can safely explore the extension on your own. If you have feedback, you can send it to me here.
